In 2009, Amy Burkert launched GoPetFriendly, a website that inspires people to travel with their pets and provides all the resources they need to do more together. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband, Rod, chucked their life as accountants and moved into a Winnebago with their two dogs, Ty and Buster. For 10 years they lived their best lives together, exploring America's highways and byways.
Not long after Ty and Buster passed away, a new pup wandered into Amy and Rod's life. Myles, as he's called, looks forward to amazing adventures as an ambassador for all traveling pets.
With more than 60,000 pet friendly listings across the U.S. and Canada, GoPetFriendly provides the tools pet lovers need to find places to stay and things to do with their pets. On the blog, Amy profiles pet friendly destinations from their travels and shares practical tips and advice on pet travel. She also self-published the award-winning book, The Ultimate Pet Friendly Road Trip, which highlights the #1 pet friendly attraction in each of the lower 48 states. With more than 200 full-color photos, the book encourages readers to make their pet friendly trips unforgettable.
